austin love comes to denver

throughout my life i have been able to be blessed with many great friends and many of those friends were made along my travels throughout this beautiful world.

when i was 19 i moved to georgia from north carolina. let me just say i was not too keen on this idea, but i did it. this was a time in my life that i was trying to find my place and figure out who i was.

thankfully i found a job as an ophthalmic tech and was able to meet some great girls. the most important person was my beautiful friend ali. i have been lucky enough to keep in touch with her through the years, visit her in austin, and have her come to denver.

this past weekend she came out with her husband to have some wonderful fun.

they arrived saturday night and after a little unwinding we made our way downtown to have dinner at a little gem called cafe colore. after the guys spent 30 minutes looking for a parking spot, and eventually having to park 7 blocks away we dived in to wonderful time catching up, wine, and amazing food!

sunday we woke up, loaded up the car, and made our way to see the ice castles in silverthorne. after some awesome photo ops (ali and rick are remarrying and wanted to get some shoots for their invites) we ventured out to see if we could find a spot to go sledding. apparently though we were unaware that you had to pay to go "tubing" and not sledding. so after about an hour of driving around we decided to head back down from the mountains. oh but we couldn't leave with out making a stop at beau jos for some delicious mountain pizza!

we were so lucky to get a seat right by a window, watched the snow fall, and the traffic build up on i70! ali and rick were so impressed with the pizza, they couldn't wait to get to the end so they could dip their crusts in the honey.

after stuffing ourselves we went back home and go ready for my mom's 50th surprised party at cru wine bar.i was able to get many of her local friends along with friends from out of town to come out and surprise her. it was a huge success and we had a ton of fun.

monday morning we decided to head back out to the mountains and try our hands at some snowboarding. although mike and i have gone a few times we are not masters!! after first stopping at copper mountain and learning that our passes were actually for ski cooper we jumped back into the car and drove another 40 miles! we finally started boarding about 1:30! crazy i know! mike finally learned how to go down forward and not with his back to the mountain!! this was a huge success!

the ski lifts stopped at 4 so we took a few minutes to play and jump in the snow some more!  and then we again jumped into the car and made our way down the mountain, finally making it home around 7:30 (snowed the entire way down) that night we relaxed and ate and watched a movie.

tuesday (valentines day) was their last day in town! got a little sad, but we relaxed and tried to just lay low. ali and rick started their morning out by going to have a little breakfast alone while mike slept! go figure! :) they then headed out on the light rail to venture and get some gifts at local shops. after shopping we pick then up and  made our way out to a little sledding hill by our place called ruby hill.  we tried our hands at some sledding! it was SOO much fun!

after many crashes, bumps, and bruises we had to stop for some more photo ops. later that evening we kicked back made some dinner - steaks, aspargus, and potatoes....the perfect valentines day dinner. we had a little to drink and just talked. i was so sad that the night had to end, but we are already planning our trip to austin!

thank you ali and rick for the amazing time!!! i love you both.
